Sessions are given on a massage table, or can even be given long distance. A practitioner will transmit Reiki to the client through the hands. The hands are lightly placed on or near the body in various positions around the head, shoulders, stomach and feet. Sometimes a practitioner will also treat above the body. During a long distance session practitioners tap into the client's energy field and work on them as if they are present. Long distance sessions are just as effective as in person.
Session times vary depending on the needs of the client. During and after a healing session, a person may feel deeply relaxed, experience relief from pain, feel balanced and have a sense of well-being or overall improvement on a combination of levels.
What does Reiki feel like?
You may experience the energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling or pulsing where the Reiki practitioner has placed their hands. Sometimes, people feel sensations moving throughout the body, while other people do not perceive any change at all.
Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during Reiki treatment, and many fall asleep during the process.
